Heritage of Green Hills Donated 145 Coats on World Kindness Day

On Saturday, November 13, the Heritage of Green Hills, a healthy lifeplan community in Shillington, Pa., celebrated World Kindness Day by challenging residents to build a “Mountain of Help” by piling new and gently used coats up in the lobby.  The generous seniors gathered 145 adults and children’s coats for donation to Opportunity House, a non-profit in Reading, Pa., which offers housing support, a childcare learning center, and veteran services. Its emergency shelter served over 500 people and 90,000 meals last year.

In addition, the Lehigh Valley Model A Club came out for a mini car show featuring cars made by the Ford Motor Company between 1900 and 1932.

To round out the day’s events, the Heritage Hotties Cheerleading Squad performed cheers to “Shake Rattle and Roll” and “Rock Around the Clock,” both by Bill Haley and the Comets, and a victory cheer during the big Penn State/Michigan game party. The Heritage Hotties are an enthusiastic silver poms squad made up of residents from the community’s independent living neighborhood.
