Community Partnership Program Aims to Encourage Blood Donors

BETHLEHEM, PA – Miller-Keystone Blood Center (MKBC) and seven local business leaders, in the communities served by Miller-Keystone Blood Center, have joined together to become a bridge to the community and encourage individuals to donate blood. Each business is not only paired with one of the Blood Centers but are also a naming partner with their respective Centers.

The businesses are: Astound Broadband – naming partner of MKBC Bethlehem; EBC Printing, Inc. – naming partner of the MKBC Allentown location; Bru Daddy’s Brewing Company – naming partner of the MKBC Hamilton-Allentown location; Classic Harley Davidson – naming partner of the MKBC Reading location; BSI Corporate Benefits – naming partner of MKBC Easton; Susquehanna Brewing Company – naming partner of MKBC Pittston; EASEL Animal Shelter – naming partner of MKBC Trenton. If you would like to be a Community Partner with MKBC, please contact Krista Hill, Community Engagement Manager at 610-691-5850 ext. 1254.

“The extension the reach each business has provides a direct impact on replenishing our community blood supply. During a time when our blood inventory is at critical levels across our region, state and country, their partnership truly help us bridge the gap between empty shelves and new blood donors,” said Peter Castagna, President and CEO of Miller-Keystone Blood Center.

Miller-Keystone Blood Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and is the sole community blood center to 28 hospitals in 15 eastern Pennsylvania counties and 5 western New Jersey counties. Every day, Miller-Keystone Blood Center provides blood products to treat: trauma, bleeding and immune system disorders, cancer, burns, accident victims, heart surgery, organ transplants, and bone marrow transplants. Due to COVID-19 and a resulting national blood shortage, the Blood Center has been experiencing challenges maintaining a safe and stable blood supply. Our only source of blood is from volunteer blood donors.
