On July 30 from 9-12PM, the Village Library will be hosting a “Rock the Library” benefit that will encompass a fun morning of activities which include: a story time, face painting, bake sale, touch a truck, games, painting kindness rocks, and more.
“The Friends of the Village Library thought this would be a wonderful opportunity to create an event to help give some personal touches to our outdoor garden. Imagine seeing beautiful rock creations and positive messages from our community, as you walk into the library. This certainly will invoke the spirit of our library.” -Maria Gerasklis-Long, Library Director
The idea for the “Rock the Library” was spearheaded by the sponsorship of Iron Mountains; the company that has been devoting time and energy to helping renovate the library with indoor and now outdoor projects. The outside gardens are in desperate need of some TLC and so the company decided they would donate time to hardscape the front gardens. Iron Mountains begin the garden makeover on July 22. The Friends of the Village Library is inviting families to donate $5 per rock to add messages or images of positivity to our garden at our event. This is the first phase of what hopes to be an eventual outdoor story area. The library has already received new wooden seating for the outdoor story area which is donated by Wolf Creek Live Edge.
“Rock the Library” is a rain or shine event. No registration is required. This is a free event except for the bake sale and the purchasing of the kindness rocks which will benefit the Village Library. The Friends of the Village Library is looking for company or community sponsorship. For more information of how to be a sponsor or inquiries about the event please contact, Kate Schuler at: [email protected] or the library 610-286-1022.
