READING, Pa.–Leinbach is among the many German family names in Berks County and in June the Leinbachs will celebrate the 300th anniversary of their arrival in the Oley Valley in 1723.
A committee, headed by Berks County Commissioner Christian Y. Leinbach, is working on a full slate of activities from June 15 to 18 in the DoubleTree Inn, Reading.
Among the presentations will be former Berks Countian Mike Leinbach, a retired NASA Shuttle director, who will talk about his career in the space industry at the finale dinner Saturday night, June 17.
A welcome dinner Thursday night June 15 will feature Leinbach family historian Laurel Miller, who will talk about the Leinbach heritage.
Friday and Saturday will feature a marketplace of Leinbach vendors, genealogical sessions, and bus tours to significant Leinbach sites around Berks County. There also will be several roundtable discussions of legendary Leinbachs, such as:
- “International Man of Intrigue C.B. Leinbach M.D.”
- “Heroes of the Nebraska Plains: Paul Silas Lineback and Ocia Dwiggins”
- “American Revolutionary Leader J. Daniel Leinbach, Revolutionary War veteran, Pa. assemblyman & Berks Co. commissioner”
- “Medical Pioneer Irwin (Mike) Leinbach,” inventor of the “Leinbach Screw” in joint replacement
- “Tyler Leinbach in Ford’s Theater: A Tragic Moment in History.”
The committee invites all Leinbachs to attend.
