City of Reading Public Meeting Next Steps for Bernhart’s Dam & Park

The City of Reading City Council and Administration are holding a public meeting on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at Chabad of Berks County, 2320 Hampden Blvd, 6pm – 7:30pm, to educate the public about the PA DEP order to remove Bernhart’s Dam and to provide the public with the plan for the park. The Muhlenberg Township Commissioners, Laureldale Borough Council, and their Directors have been invited to attend and participate. Following a presentation on the plan for the park, there will be time for questions and comment for all residents.

The Chabad of Berks County and Rabbi Lipsker have graciously opened their facility to allow this meeting to be held in a location proximate to Bernhart’s Park and central for Reading, Muhlenberg, and Laureldale residents.

  2. History of the Park’s dewatering and lead remediation
  3. Work done to date at the Park and the recovery of the environment
  4. Next steps to be taken
  5. Public comment/questions

Those wishing to make comments or ask questions will have up to three minutes to speak.
