Opportunity House Celebrates Juneteenth

Opportunity House is celebrating Juneteenth on Monday, June 19, 2023 at 12 noon.  The Juneteenth celebration includes food, music, games for adults and children, and a keynote speaker. Opportunity House clients and team members will celebrate and remember this day in our nation’s history.

At Opportunity House, we are led by a deep sense of compassion to understand the needs of the most vulnerable in our community–the homeless.  Celebrating our shared history and acknowledging the struggles of those who were enslaved, helps unite us and work toward a more equitable future for all people.

The keynote speaker for the event is Wynton Butler, Berks Chapter NAACP Leader.  He will be sharing the history and meaning of Juneteenth.  His presentation will begin at approximately 12:25 pm.

Since 1987, Opportunity House has been the community’s primary resource providing emergency shelter to over 500 clients experiencing homelessness each year.  We provide temporary shelter for people in need. Our goal is to stabilize individuals and families and help them find permanent housing.

Opportunity House provides housing for over 100 clients through their transitional and permanent housing programs. These programs offer long-term support as part of the extended Opportunity House community.
