Protect Your Eyes During Healthy Vision Month

Continuing its monthly health campaign series, Berks Community Television (BCTV) will be sharing facts, statistics, resources, and tips to protect your vision during the month of July for Healthy Vision Month.

According to the American Optometric Association, adults in their early to mid-40s will start to notice their eyesight deteriorating, especially at close distances, which is completely natural. Adults with diabetes, high blood pressure, a family history of glaucoma or macular degeneration, highly visually demanding jobs, or eye-hazardous occupations may be particularly at risk for developing eye and vision problems.

BCTV hopes to raise awareness for eye-specific diseases and conditions like macular degeneration, cataract, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma, and to provide tips on how to keep your vision as healthy as possible as you age.

The American Optometric Association, the Vision Resource Center of Berks County, and the American Macular Degeneration Foundation are a few important resources for more research and information about vision health and the diseases and conditions that affect the eyes. These include:
