Penn State Extension to Host Virtual Workshop “Kinship Family Forum: Branch Out with Thrive”

Penn State Extension will host a virtual workshop, “Kinship Family Forum: Branch Out with Thrive,” on Oct. 18. This program provides core information on communication, developmental milestones, and mental health, and then presents additional information via family scenarios. This event is being offered at no charge to participants.

Youths need their parent’s attention and support during adolescence more than ever. With so many changes and transitions during adolescence, this phase of life is exciting and anxious for youth and their parents. Branch Out is designed to support mothers and fathers in their parenting roles as they, in turn, nurture their children as they transition from childhood to adulthood.

Kinship care is a term used for individuals raising children by grandparents, other extended family members, and adults with whom they have a close family-like relationship, such as godparents and close family friends, because biological parents are unable to do so for whatever reason.
