In January, The Highlands at Wyomissing – a premier continuing care retirement community in Berks County – announced the appointment of four new board of directors.
The new board members, Michael Duff, Karen Miller, Karen Rightmire, and Carl Seidl bring deep experience in community involvement, leadership, and volunteer work, respectively.
Michael Duff is the Vice President of Community Engagement for Penske Transportation Solutions. Duff holds multiple key positions within non-profit organizations, including his recent tenure as the President of The Reading Symphony Orchestra. Furthermore, he holds board member positions at numerous other non-profit organizations, including United Way of Berks County and the Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center.
Karen Miller brings to the board more than 30 years of senior executive experience in the government and non-profit sectors. The first woman mayor of Reading (1980-1987), she is now a Senior Fellow at the Berks County Community Foundation and a member of the Berks County Area Agency on the Aging Advisory Committee. She is also a member of The Highlands’ Grounds and Maintenance Committee.
Karen Rightmire has contributed decades of service to the community. She is the former President of the United Way of Berks County, the former President of the Wyomissing Foundation, and currently the Chief Strategy Officer for the Wyomissing Foundation. Rightmire previously served on the boards of Tower Health, the Reading Hospital, Albright College, and Tompkins VIST Bank. She currently serves on the Reading Hospital Foundation Board, where she is the Chair of the Governance Committee. She also serves on the GoggleWorks Board of Directors. She has received numerous community awards for her volunteer work in Berks County.
Prior to his new role on the board, Carl Seidl served as the Vice President Operations for Reading Hospital. He previously served on the board of Berks Red Cross, Berks Senior Citizen Council, Miller Memorial Blood Bank, and Berks Community Television. Seidl is currently a board member for Reading Berks AAA.
