HARRISBURG, PA – State Reps. Thomas Caltagirone and Mark Rozzi, both D-Berks, are commending multiple career and technical schools in Berks County for receiving $77,925 in state grants.
The money, which is funded through the Pennsylvania Department of Education and announced today by Gov. Tom Wolf, will be used to buy new equipment for students at:
- Berks CTC: $27,925
- Reading Muhlenberg CTC: $50,000
“Higher education is not solely about four-year degrees, but putting an emphasis on programs that best prepare our students of today for the jobs of tomorrow,” explained Caltagirone. “This money echoes my commitment to making sure bright minds have the proper tools at their disposal that provide the hands-on experience needed to give them the best chance to succeed in the workforce.”
“Our career and technical schools are preparing students for jobs that Pennsylvania businesses need to fill,” Rozzi said. “I’m pleased to see the state award these grants, which will help ensure that schools have the right equipment on site to give students the training they need to be ready for the workplace. I have and will continue to be a great supporter of technical education. Students are graduating and walking right into quality, high paying jobs.”
Wolf awarded nearly $1.2 million in competitive grants to 38 career and technical centers and area vocational technical education schools across the commonwealth.
