Sen. Schwank Announces $7.5 Million in Available Community Violence Prevention Grants

READING – State Sen. Judy Schwank (D-Berks) has announced that starting December 7, municipalities and some local organizations may apply for up to $350,000 in funding for projects that address community violence.

“We are lucky in Berks to have many organizations and municipalities that take proactive approaches to preventing crime,” Schwank said. “These grants will help them in that mission.”

Program activities that will be considered for the grants are:

The grants fall under the purview of Community and Violence Prevention Program and are administered by the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency. Qualifying applicants are municipalities such as boroughs, townships, towns, cities, and counties, institutions of higher education and community-based organizations.

In total, $7.5 million in funds will be awarded to organizations across Pennsylvania.

The funding application period will close on February 7, 2019, and approved Crime Violence Prevention Grants will be announced on May 1, 2019.
