Reading’s Tropical Bakery to Bring the Flavors of the Caribbean to Second Location

Tanya Melendez, General Manager of Tropical Bakery, announces of the expansion of a second location of their family business opening at the Shillington Farmers Market with a ribbon cutting to mark the occasion.

The announcement will be made on site together with Randy Peers, CEO & President and Jobany Bedoya, Small Business & Latino Outreach Coordinator of the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance, Councilwoman Lucine Sihelnik, District 1, Reading, and Hamid Chowdry, Owner of the Shillington Farmer’s Market at the Shillington Farmers Market, 10 S Summit Ave, Shillington, PA 19607. Parking is available on site in the lot adjacent to the market building.

There will Grand Opening ceremony will be held on Thursday, July 19th, at 10:00 AM. A casual reception will follow to invite the community to taste samples of the bakery’s products.  

A family operated business, Tropical Bakery,  has been bringing the flavors of the Caribbean to the South Side of Reading since 1992.  And now they are proud to announce that they will be opening a streamlined version of their products to the Shillington Farmers Market where they will be baking on site.  Their Award-winning Tres Leches Cake and other costumer favorites will have a home in the new location. They have also created some new items specifically for this market, Guava paste Biscotti and Piña Colada Cake.  The goal for this endeavor is to maintain the quality and taste while bringing a little innovation to a new market and costumer base.
