Rick Lippin, a preventive medicine advocate, will speak about “Prevention: The Starting Point for Healthcare Reform” with host John Hoskyns-Abrahall. Mr. Lippin writes articles and speaks regularly about public health and preventive medicine. He believes “Embracing prevention requires a shift in emphasis from the current high-tech/high-treatment model to systems, or holistic, models that address psycho-social-spiritual components of healthcare in addition to biological components.” An area where you can see this play out dramatically is in dying where “we spend huge amounts of money on prolonging death, instead of focusing at an earlier age on prolonging life.”
