Hazy, Hot and Homeless: Veterans Need Your Help This Summer

Being homeless in the summer isn’t easy. For our aging Vietnam Vets, the heat can be fatal for those with heart and lung conditions. For our Gulf War era Veterans, living in a car may feel safe, but with the lack of water, it can result in dehydration and heat stroke. Iraq, Afghanistan, and Iran Veterans with asthma and other respiratory conditions know that air conditioning is vital to prevent a life-threatening asthma attack. The hazy, hot, humid days are brutal on Veterans and others who are living outdoors.

A Glimpse of Living Outdoors

Here are some tips to follow if you see a Veteran or others living outdoors.

This year, Supportive Services for Veteran Families helped over 275 Veteran families who were literally homeless or facing eviction. Thanks to your continued generous support, our clients make lasting changes that improve their lives.
