Muhlenberg Township Set to Kick Off Summer Events

The Muhlenberg Township Parks and Recreation Department announced their lineup of summer events for the Muhlenberg community.

Muhlenberg’s Summer Concert Series

Would you like to sit back in your lawn chair, with the beautiful view of the river to your left on a Friday night listening to free music?  If you would, then you need to visit Jim Dietrich Park on the following Friday for the Summer Concert Series from 6 to 8:30PM each night.  This year’s line-up is as follows:

The POP Truck from Pollen Consolidated with adult beverages will also be on site for these concerts.  You are welcome to bring your own dinner and beverages so that you can relax and enjoy the show.  The Muhlenberg Arts Board is the sponsoring agency for these concerts.  A donation jar will be passed around at intermission time, if you would like to donate to keep the concerts coming.  If you need further details, please call the Muhlenberg Township at 610-929-4727.  All are welcome to attend.  Hope to see you there.

Summer Flea Market

Join The Muhlenberg Township Parks Department for the Summer Flea Market at Jim Dietrich Park’s grassy parking lot on Saturday, July 9 from 8AM to 1PM to see if you can sell some of your treasures for cash.  This is a relatively new location for this event so please note the changes in reservation procedures. Space sizes are 20’ by 20’ and are located in the grassy field area next to the farmhouse.  Specific spot numbers are not reserved but will be assigned as you enter the event.  If you want to be next to someone, please arrive together. You can reserve as many spaces as you want and your car can be parked in your space. Tables are NOT provided as part of your $15/space rental fee.  Setup starts at 6:00AM, so please do not arrive earlier.  Refreshments will be available for purchase from the Muhlenberg Community Library fund raising group, so the sale of food or drinks of any kind is prohibited.  The sale of weapons of any kind, counterfeit or fake merchandise, illegal fireworks and alcoholic beverages are prohibited on park property.  Mark your calendars now so you won’t miss out on the great deals.  Pre-registration is required for we only have 120 spots available.  Registration can be done online by visiting www.muhlenbergtwp.com.  Our next flea market is scheduled for Sept. 10, 2022.

Muhlenberg’s Drift Jam

The Drift Jam is a new event for Muhlenberg Township.  The first part is a lazy afternoon floating down the Schuylkill River from the Leesport area in a kayak to Jim Dietrich Park on Saturday, July 16th.  We will meet at Jim Dietrich Park near the red brick pavilion at 12 noon, then travel to the Leesport Post Office located at (4 East Wall St. Leesport 19533) to gain access to the river.  Rental equipment will be provided by Blue Marsh Outdoors(BMO) and includes kayak, paddles, and life jackets for $35/person.  All participants are required to wear a life preserver and sign waiver forms. NOTE: Please coordinate your own transportation to Leesport for the start of the event AND again back to Leesport to get your car.  It might be good to find a friend to join you so a car can be at the start and finish locations.  Registration for the event and equipment is available online at www.muhlenbergtwp.com under facility and program rentals from now until July 8th.  The cost for rental is $35/ person, if you bring your own equipment there is a $10 fee.

The second part is a clam bake and music Jam in front of the farmhouse at Jim Dietrich Park. Bring your own chair, sit back and relax while listening to Havana Budda from 4 to 6PM and Dave Kline and the Report from 6:30 to 9PM as they pay tribute to the Rolling Stones and Credence Clearwater Revival.  Clam Bakes need to be pre-ordered by July 8th at our website www.muhlenbregtwp.com. There is no outside beverages or food allowed at this event.  Chef Shef’s Catering and Lio Colon’s food bus will be on hand for food purchases and adult beverages will be sold in the beer tent area.  For more information, call 610-929-4727 or check out the Facebook event page at Drift Jam & Clam Bake.
