Potthoff Earns NFHCA All-Region Honors

Gilbert, Ariz. (Dec. 3, 2019) – Alvernia University junior Madison Potthoff earned National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III All-Region honors, as announced by the NFHCA on Tuesday.

 

Potthoff earned Second Team Longstreth/NFHCA All-Region honors as a defender. Potthoff started in all 20 games for Alvernia in the 2019 season. She finished the year with five goals and five assists. Potthoff led Alvernia with 1,243 minutes played. She also led Alvernia and the MAC Commonwealth with seven defensive saves. Potthoff was also a perfect 2-for-2 on penalty strokes. In addition to All-Region honors, Potthoff was also a First Team All-MAC Commonwealth selection.

A total of 197 Division III student-athletes were named to Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-Region teams. Division III teams are separated into five regions: Great Lakes, New England East, New England West, North Atlantic, South Atlantic, and South. Alvernia University is a member of the South Atlantic Region. Each region honors at least 16 student-athletes on a first team, and at least 16 student-athletes on a second team. A region’s team size is contingent on the number of institutions within the respective region.

The Golden Wolves finished their 2019 season with an overall record of 11-10, and were 3-4 in MAC Commonwealth play.
