Rotary Club to Provide 500 Free Tree Seedlings at West Reading FallFest

Rotary Club to Provide 500 Free Tree Seedlings at West Reading FallFest

The Rotary Club of West Reading-Wyomissing is participating in West Reading FallFest on Saturday, September 18, 2021. Partnering with Bartlett Tree Experts they will be promoting Rotary International’s new Area of Focus to “support the environment” by giving away 500 tree seedlings.

Kevin Weber, Certified Arborist Representative with Bartlett Tree Experts and a member of the Rotary Club of West Reading-Wyomissing said, “Bartlett is dedicated to developing environmentally sound products and our Legacy Tree Program provides seedlings to help with restoration efforts along with providing communities and individuals knowledge on how to care for trees. As a fellow Rotarian this was a perfect opportunity to align and increase tree planting and stewardship in the community. Urban tree population depends on large-scale participation to thrive and grow”

“Our Rotary Club is proud to engage in the community with a booth at the West Reading FallFest. Stop by for a tree seedling, free popcorn and learn more about Rotary and our various service projects centered around Rotary’s seven areas of focus. We appreciate Bartlett Tree Experts partnering and providing tree seedlings to highlight Rotary’s new environmental focus,” said Carolyne Jordan, President of the Rotary Club of West Reading-Wyomissing.

In addition to giving away 500 trees, the Rotary will be selling grilled cheese sandwiches and water with the first $600 dollars raised being used to purchase a Shelter Box which provides emergency shelter after disaster strikes.

Other proceeds raised will be used to support local community projects which focus on Rotary’s 2021 theme “Serve to Change Lives”. Rotary causes include promoting peace; fighting disease; providing clean water, sanitation, and hygiene; saving mothers and children; supporting education, growing local economies, along with the environment.

Some of the local places we support with organizational funds and local service are Mary’s Shelter, Hope Rescue Mission, Opportunity House, Helping Harvest, Co-County Wellness Services, Children’s Home of Reading, and the Reading School District. The Rotary International Foundation helps fund these local programs through our club, in addition to supporting programs around the world. Rotary has the highest ranking, 4 stars with Charity Navigator, and our club helps to support that by placing the funds given us by the Foundation into our local community.

The world needs more Rotarians. If you are interested in giving back to others, please reach out to us and learn more about Rotary and how you can get involved. The Rotary motto is “Service Above Self”.
