Traditional Music at the Wyomissing Library

On Saturday, September 8th, traditional musician Jay Smar will perform at the Wyomissing Public Library in a program which will begin at 1 PM. The program is free and open to the public.

Smar is a native of Coaldale, PA, and plays acoustic guitar, clawhammer banjo, and fiddle. He sings and plays traditional  American folk songs, gospel and bluegrass, original compositions and coal mining songs of Northeastern Pennsylvania. As a performer, he has played at the Philadelphia Folk Festival, performed music for the BBC documentary, “The Welsh in America,” toured in performance in Scotland, and received a special recognition award from the PA House of Representatives for his work in preserving the heritage of coal miners. He has released several cd’s, which will be available for sale and signing after the performance.
