The Reading Fightin Phils, Double-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies, are excited to recognize the Varsity Boys Basketball team of Reading High School for winning the PIAA 6A Boys Basketball Championship this season.

The Reading High Knights defeated Pine-Richland of Gibsonia, Pennsylvania by a score of 64-60 on March 25th at the Giant Center in Hershey to win their first-ever state championship in boys basketball.

The Knights put together one of their greatest seasons in program history by compiling an overall record of 30-3 and finishing undefeated (10-0) in their league.

The Fightin Phils will have a pre-game ceremony to honor the state champions including their coaches, managers, athletic trainers and the athletic staff. Former players and coaches are invited to stand on the field during the pre-game ceremony – as are future Red Knights players. Past Red Knight players, and future Red Knight players are asked to gather by the Customer Service Booth at 6:20 p.m. Reading Superintendent, Dr. Khalid Mumin and Head Coach Rick Perez will say a few words about the season and the team. The ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. There will be an autograph session by the entire Red Knights varsity team in the Tompkins VIST Bank Plaza from 5:30 – 6:15 p.m. Those fans passing through the autograph line will also receive a complimentary Red Knights Championship Team Photo, compliments of Savage 61 Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM. Gates open at 5pm.

After they are recognized on the field, the State Champion Red Knights will enjoy the game as guests of the Fightins in the Reading Health System Character Pool Party.

The first 2,500 adults 15 and older will receive a Fightins Navy Blue Replica Jersey T-Shirt presented by Mental Health and Developmental Disabilities Program. Fans can purchase tickets by calling 610-370-BALL or by going online at fightins.com.
