Tunney Earns Conference Honors for Second Straight Week

ANNVILLE, Pa. – For the second-straight week, Albright junior women’s soccer goalkeeper Alexis Tunney earned MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week honors, announced by the conference on October 16.

Tunney started in net for the Lions on Tuesday afternoon against Lycoming, and came away with her third-straight shutout as Albright registered a 1-0 over the Warriors. She made five saves after facing seven shots while playing the entire 90 minutes in the win. She has not allowed a goal for the past 347:34 minutes of play that she has been in net for the Lions.

The Galloway, N.J. native holds a 0.77 GAA which ranks second-lowest in the MAC Commonwealth, and has five shutouts so far this season. This is the fourth time that Tunney has earned MAC Commonwealth Defensive Player of the Week honors in her collegiate career as she has now earned the award in back-to-back weeks in two-straight seasons.

The Albright women’s soccer team will return to action on Wednesday, October 18, when they will travel to face cross-town rival Alvernia in MAC Commonwealth play for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
