House by house, block by block, NHS of Greater Berks revitalizes neighborhoods

Reading, PA – Neighborhood Housing Services of Greater Berks, Inc. (NHS) celebrated the official opening of its expanded HomeOwnership Center with a ribbon cutting ceremony this evening.

The celebration, which was held at 5:30 PM., featured remarks by local officials as well as a site tour.

“We are excited to officially welcome the local community to our new HomeOwnership Center as we celebrate our success in building our presence in greater Reading,” said Stephen Gieringer, Executive Director. “We are proud to be expanding our services, building our partnerships, and celebrating our 40th anniversary.”

The expansion into new offices was thoughtfully designed for the staff to work effectively and as a perfect environment to welcome clients.

It features smartly configured floor plans designed to promote employee productivity in a collaborative environment. The room is flexible, including eight work spaces, a meeting room, one fully-equipped conference room, two bathrooms, a copy room, and three workstations to house new staff.

“This expansion allows us to build deeper relationships with our clients to more effectively serve them,” commented Daniel Sansary, HomeOwnership Center Manager. “Our clients shape the direction of our future growth. We listened to the needs of existing clients and developed a space to best serve them.”

NHS’s HomeOwnership Center provides a unique range of services offered in one convenient location. The Center serves as the homebuyer’s support network before, during and after buying a home. The goal of the Center is to make the home buying process as simple as possible for prospective home buyers, while helping to ensure that customers are adequately prepared for long-term success as homeowners.

The core homebuyer education, homeownership advisement, lending, and post-purchase services are designed to “delinquency-proof” borrowers who, due to lower incomes, savings or other characteristics may be at higher risk for delinquency or default.

The HomeOwnership Centers adheres to stringent standards set by NeighborWorks America to ensure that services are consistent in quality and scope. NHS was required to meet or exceed the established standards in several categories including staff certification, customer service, home-ownership production, service-delivery systems and financial-management systems.
