Listen To Your Mother Greater Berks

May 07, 2019

AFTER spanning 50+ American cities with 250 productions, Listen To Your Mother, a grassroots storytelling phenomenon, comes to Berks County May 11, 2019. Twelve local storytellers have been chosen to share their well-crafted essays.

We’re giving motherhood a microphone!

Produced and directed by Berks County native and local author, Heather Christie,  LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER is a well-crafted 90-minute journey of true stories about motherhood—being a mom, having a mom, losing a mom, finding a mom—as many interpretations on the theme of mothering as you can imagine. From hilarious and heartwarming, to emotionally intense and profound, LISTEN TO YOUR MOTHER entertains, energizes, brings community together and leaves everyone feeling a little less alone and a little more understood. That’s the goal. Cast members include: Kristie Piacine, DJ Plante, Emily Hershey, Amy Impellizzeri, Marsha Wight Wise, Oduwa Ogbebor, Stephanie Andersen, Holly Stuckert-Davis, Samantha Wharton, Joey Flamm Costello, Rebecca Thatcher Murcia, and Maria McDonnell.

The inaugural show is Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Wilson High School Auditorium. Ticket are $15 and can be purchased via this link: https://bit.ly/2IVX5bo. A portion of ticket sales benefit Women2Women Lean-In Scholarships and food sales benefit the Wilson Education Foundation. Doors open at 6pm for a 7pm curtain. Before the show, enjoy a live pianist and finish your last-minute Mother’s Day shopping as Sorrelli Jewelry, The Rustic Bunch, and Katie Ballantine Photography will be on-site with pop-up sales.

As a cast member in the 2017 Baltimore Listen To Your Mother show, Heather Christie was inspired to bring the production to her hometown. Together with her mother, Suzanne Christie (Creative Director) and her daughter, Cali Christie Snyder (Technical Director), she is hoping to start a new Berks County Mother’s Day tradition.
