Kemper, Stevens Named Alvernia Players of the Week

Reading, Pa. (Sept. 30, 2019) –  Women’s Tennis junior Leah Kemper and Football sophomore Keeryen Stevens were named Alvernia Players of the Week for their performance during the week of September 23 – September 29, 2019.

Leah Kemper advanced to the semifinals at the 2019 MAC Women’s Tennis Individual Championship over the weekend. Kemper, playing at No. 6 singles won her first and second round matches in straight sets. Kemper then fell to Sabrini Ricciardi from DeSales in a 6-3, 2-6, 10-7 match. Kemper also fell at #3 doubles in the first round with playing partner Lauren Noss.

Keeryen Stevens took over punting duties for the Golden Wolves on Saturday in a loss to Wilkes. Stevens sent off eight punts for Alvernia, averaging 42.6 yards. He had an Alvernia record-breaking long punt of 60 yards in the third quarter, breaking the previous program record by six yards. Stevens pinned the Pride inside the 20 on three occasions. Playing in the secondary for Alvernia’s defense, Stevens made three tackles on the afternoon.
