Reading Musical Foundation Features the Finest 28 Student Musicians Across Berks County in Two Artists of Tomorrow Concerts

The Reading Musical Foundation will present 28 of our first-place winners from its 2023 scholarship auditions in their prestigious Artists of Tomorrow Concert. An annual event, the concert will be held at the WCR Center for the Arts on Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024, and Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024, at 3 p.m. Musicians are divided between the two concerts based on whether they have performed in a previous Artists of Tomorrow Concert or if this is their first event. The Artists of Tomorrow Concerts are free to the public. Free parking will be available in the Trinity Lutheran Church parking lot across from the WCR Center for the Arts. Featured below are the students participating in each of the concerts.

RMF will also recognize musicians who have placed in the RMF auditions every year for at least the last three years with the Young Music Makers award. We focused on the three-year consistency due to how RMF age groupings break out in the scholarship program (Grades 1-3, Grades 4-6, Grades 7-9, Grades 10-12). It can be difficult for students to place when they are in the youngest year of the age bracket and auditioning against students with more years of experience. RMF created the Young Music Makers Award to recognize this accomplishment. Out of the 152 merit winners from 2023, only 39 will receive this award! The list of students receiving this award is also below.

RMF awarded over $274,428 in 2023 in scholarship awards to Berks County musicians. Divided almost evenly between merit (audition-based) and need-sensitive awards, students were able to receive assistance for private lessons, instrument rentals and upgrades, college tuition, and summer camp scholarships. More information about RMF’s scholarship program, including audition dates and deadlines for 2024, can be found at www.readingmusicalfoundation.org.

Unique in the country in its approach and breadth, the Reading Musical Foundation enriches our community through music education, advocacy, performance, and appreciation. The Foundation maintains an appreciation for music and the diligence, respect for accuracy, and teamwork that music training provides to equip young adults for a variety of occupations and roles in the community. We support local music performances, engage in music outreach in our schools and through a variety of after-school programs, and serve as a network and resource for the region’s music organizations, performers, and audiences. RMF is the region’s largest provider of music scholarships on merit and in response to financial need.
